Just by coincidence Vikings was being aired as I was reading this book and it was with a newly educated mind that I was able to internally critique the series which to me seemed very well researched and truly well done. I love this period of history and the author must be congratulated on a piece of work which must have been a mammoth research task.

Disapointing

I purchased this book thinking it was a historical survey of the Viking Age. Unfortuntely, it is actually a cultural and social description of Viking life. The book when considered in this light would be enjoyable and informative for soemone seeking something other than a true history of the Vikings. Needless to say, I am very disapointed.

Maggie Geuens holds a PhD in applied economics at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, where she also worked as an assistant professor. Currently she is Professor of Marketing at the University of Ghent. She is the academic director of the Brand Management Centre at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. Joeri Van den Bergh holds a masters degree in marketing (University of Ghent and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School). A great resource!

I am not a scientist, I am just a normal person interested in Herbal Medicine and creating my own tinctures, salves, etc for simple at home remedies.

I was worried this book might be a bit over the top for me, but I was pleasantly surprised! While, yes, the first few chapters delve a bit deep into the chemistry of it all, I have found that the rest of the book offers highly valuable information.

This book is broken into several sections, and I've found lots of useful information in the sections pertaining to the HOW of Herbal Medicine - it tells you precise ways of formulating different remedies. Also, the fully in depth index looks at each herb and goes into detail on it's uses and best preparations.

Overall I am so very happy with this book. It's one of my major resources and highly recommend it!

"Tahir al-Bayati (1937 - ) has a B.A. degree in English from Baghdad University and holds Cambridge Lower and Higher Certificates in English which he obtained during his studies in the United Kingdom. He has participated in several English courses, especially in one held at the University of Birmingham, U.K. He has taught English for 33 years, starting at the formerly Nizamiyya Secondary (High) School for Boys in Baghdad, once the most exclusive and prestigious school in all of Iraq (read inside pages). Many non-English speaking students have benefitted from this book, many still do and many, many more will be benefitting. This is not an ordinary book by any standard. It is the product of efforts that lasted for many years, and you can come to this conclusion when you review its contents. The author taught English and has had a firsthand experience in the problems faced by those whose mother tongue is quite different from English. He has kept improving his work time and over again, so much so that the number of its reviews has exceeded seventeen. This is the first time this book is published in the United States where there are many people who need and can benefit from this great work. Great, accessible guide to non-profit fundraising

Raising money for your organization can be hard and often intimidating. Many organizations will hire a full time development director to do it, but smaller organizations that really need funds can't always afford it, and, ironically probably have more of a need for expert fundraising. This is a great starter guide for new board members and others charged with fundraising.

Experienced fundraisers looking for tips or secrets will find this book too basic. This book is a broad overview of small org non-profit fundraising and defines the basics such as "prospect", "ask" and "donor". Missing from the book are nitty gritty details and direct examples but that's ok. The target audience of the book is someone who doesn't know where to start and probably terrified of asking someone for money on behalf of another entity. This is for a novice who doesn't even know where to begin to start asking questions.

This book empowers the reader to engage other members of their organization to ask details tactical questions about how they should approach donors, how to keep donors active, and ultimately how to keep the organization alive. Even if someone's job in the organization isn't fundraising, this book explains the importance of it and how it's not just the job of the donor or development staff to raise money, but rather everyone's job to be part of the process.

A great starter guide written in language accessible to anyone, not just fundraising pros.

Well, here's just one more reason to get your crazy cat lady fix in! Great story. I liked the ending. I do hope though that maybe she'll get out of the house more! Yep, I'd recommend this story.
