with the previous reviewer, I know once again. I don't know what the evidence was either. It wasn't discussed. Yeah she seemed weak and really I can't believe how trusting a three year old can be. I have one. He's not that trusting. This whole getting to the woman through the child is so cliche and overused. Really if Shannay was such a strong indpendent woman why did she fall back in with Marcello so quickly. He did ride roughshod over her and she did back down a lot it seemed. She should have called his bluff and let him take her to court. If he cared that much about the child he wouldn't have gone through with it. Considering that she had such wonderful evidence of her husband's supposed infidelity you think she would have fought more to resist him!!

The Martinex Marriage Revenge

This story is set after the marriage breaks down when she left and went back to Austrulia. Shannay left Marcello 4 years ago when she was told by his family his was not faithful and wanted her out. His brother and sister-in-law saw her and the secret she'd left with (a child) and told Marcello. He fly's in and takes her back home (Spain). I love the way the story was woven with twists and turns of spite and hatered of her due to her lower breading. He wants revenge at first. I have read many books by Bianchin and this is another one that will never lose it's appeal to me.

I disagree with the reviews above. I liked the story. It was very similar to the Italian's Ruthless Marriage Command. He did explain to her that he respected their vows and that everything was a plot between his ex lover and his aunt. She did make herself respect. Altough at the beginning he was rough through The time sharing with his daugther and with his wife, he became nice.

Extremely well written and full of great techniques

Ben Willmore is one of the world's best Photoshop teachers. He possesses an extraordinary wealth of knowledge about Photoshop and, just as importantly, he has a great gift for sharing that knowledge in an almost folksy and down-home style. In one of the editorial reviews above it says "arguably one of the best Photoshop books ever written" and I would take the word "arguably" out of that sentence--it's absolutely one of the best Photoshop books ever written.

I have taken all-day seminars with him and when I leave them my head is swimming my so many new ideas that it's hard to know where to begin (and if you're like me, you forget a lot the minute you walk out the door--good thing he hands out notes!). That's why Ben's books are so great: they are beautifully written and he carefully explains myriad technqiues in simple step-by-step fashion. If you've been bewildered and frustrated by the awful guides that Adobe includes with Photoshop CS2, you will find this book to be incredibly refreshing and simple to use.

Ben has a very scientific approach to Photoshop which you might think would take the fun out of it, but it doesn't. In fact, by explaining things in a very clear way and giving you the underlying "why" of how things work, you understand the tools and techniques of Photoshop much better. Things like Curves (a huge thing in Ben's teaching) and Layer Blending Modes (a world unto themselves) become easy to understand and use.

The book is also nicely illustrated with good step-by-step photos and diagrams and is very well indexed (what good is a Photoshop book that isn't well indexed?).

I am a photo how-to writer myself and even though I've been working with Photoshop since 1993, whenever I finish writing a piece on Photoshop I double-check my facts with this book (or one of the older versions). I think that Ben Willmore and Katrin Eismann are the two best Photoshop teachers that I've encountered so far (Katrin is brilliant and funny and quite an artist I heartily recommend anything that she writes). If you ever get the chance to spend a day at one of Ben's $99 seminars, do it, you'll be glad you plunked down the money.

Finally, there are a few small things I look up occasionally that are not covered in this book, but that is rare and the topics really are minor. On the other hand I've never picked this book up and not walked back to my comuter to try something new. You learn something worthwhile every time you open the book and that is saying a lot.

One of the most comprehensive books on Photoshop

I'll be very honest about how I found this book and how I ended up ordering it from Amazon. I have mentioned in my previous reviews that I live in Pakistan where we do not have Photoshop books readily available in bookshops to browse through. So I am always on the look out for "other" means. I found the e-book version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 Studio Techniques on the internet and out of "curiosity" downloaded it (I know its unethical but could not help it..wanted to see what the book was like).

Guys, when I was half way through this book (reading it from the PC screen) I had made up my mind that I needed a hardcopy of it in its original form, not because my eyes were all puffy and red but this is one amazing Photoshop Book. I own 10 Photoshop books at the moment including Katrin Eismann's Photoshop Restoration & Retouching 2nd Ed. and Masking & Compositing and thought Katrin was the best when it came to explaining techy stuff. But Ben Willmore is masterful. I have yet to see a Photoshop guru explain Photoshop blending modes in the crystal clear way he did in this book. Simply amazing. Infact each and every concept of Photoshop has been dealt with the same finesse. People who want to learn the "behind the scenes" of Photoshop must buy this book

Ben's blend of explaining every tool/technique and the situations in which they can be used is fantastic. The pages are chock full of information...nicely arranged small images which might be too small for some but do the job perfectly fine along with perfect explanation. I mean Scott Kelby can make atleast 10 books out of this one amazing book by leaving out extra space on pages and using larger images. This book is 573 pages ...but it is much bigger when it comes to the information it contains. The only thing I wish is that the bonus chapters on the CD were included in the book...small gripe though

I hope Ben would forgive me for reading the ebook version since I bought the book eventually along with Bruce Fraser's Real World PS CS2.

P.S. Both books arrived with free samples of Degree Silver Ice deodorant. Do the folks at Amazon think that Photoshop users have smelly armpits? It can't even be a third world country aid thing cuz the delivery was made in Missouri and I got the books when my relatives from US flew in.

Best introductory and intermediate Photoshop book for Photographers

I have read many PS books, and have spent many hours in bookstores carefully reviewing all of the popular PS books. This is without a doubt the best book to start with, and may be the only one you will ever need to buy.

This is the PS book best suited to photographers, either digital or analog. It covers the basics in great detail, and also the sophisticated techniques and tips required to optimise any image.

Most PS books fall into one of two categories: either they are full of "creative tricks" like showing you how to replace someones nose with their dog's tail; or they simply state "to achieve this do this", with no explanation. In both cases they scrimp on or gloss over what is important to photograhers: how to get a great image from a digital file. Getting from a raw file or scan to the optimal print or web image in the easiest and quickest way is all this book is about. Because of that it concentrates on the features in PS that are crucial to achieving these ends, and has enough space to explain them comprehensively and clearly.

Most PS books don't explain features well or at all; they say "do this in this situation" but when you happen upon a slightly different situation you are stuck, because you don't understand what you are doing. This book explains clearly, and in simple terms, all of the CS2 features that a photographer needs, and doesn't waste your time on anything you don't need.

The Best Atlas EVER!!!!!!

People if you out to learn anatomy, please do not think you can get a All-in-One anatomy atlas that contains EVERYTHING. It is simply not possible because of the depth of the subject.
Anatomy is not simple. One has to "imagine" every anatomical detail in one's brain without actually seeing things in 3-D.
There are a lot of Netter's enthusiasts, but let me assure you that you have to see the art-work and beauty of this atlas.The drawings are PHENOMENAL and you dont get even 20 % quality of pics in those "Look inside this book" options on Thieme website or on Google book reviews and other sites.
The other good thing about this atlas is that gives an "overall" views for various systems eg arterial, venous systems for various systems. This atlas "gets close to the tree, but never loses the sight of the forest". And thats what you need when you are studying anatomy to be a good doctor-Never lose the perspective; Never forget the BIGGER picture.
I already have a Sobotta and I am going to buy the other two in the series (Neck and Internal Organs and General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System). If I knew about this atlas I probably would have gone for it earlier (I still would have gone for Sobotta since that is a great one too). I have always seen Netter's around and I have never liked it. I think it is overrated and people cant spend on THREE atlas series but guys let me assure you---> this atlas is the REAL deal.
There are some descriptions as well as but that is superficial and still you have to read proper text book (eg Keith L Moore etc).
Another strength is the clinical correlates with regional anatomy which is really helpful for students .
I am planing to do a video review of this atlas comparing it will Sobotta since many people are not aware of these gems but till then!!!!

Two years later, I continue to admire the fantastic artwork of this atlas (I have all three volumes :-).
The drawings are breathtakingly detailed and impressive. Colour scheme is nice and subtle.
While studying neuroanatomy, I tried using illustrations from "Snell's Neuroanatomy", but that was clearly a mistake. Snell's neuroanatomy does have good descriptive text, but its illustrations are horrible (in general). Many drawings are meant to be 3-D but appear to be 2 D or some weird orientation which is neither 3D nor 2D. Net result: you get more confused.
Go to spinal cord's blood supply in Snell's , and then check out the corresponding drawings from Thieme Atlas. This is the best Atlas out there . A little bit of text in this atlas also adds to the enjoyment.
Simply go for this one as FIRST choice.

Simply Amazing!!! The Best Neuro Book I Have Ever Read!!!

I bough this book after I found myself drowning in the first 2 weeks of my neurosciences module during the first year of med school. A friend of mine showed me the copy he had bought after being told to do so by several different physicians who he had told he was in his neuro module in school. I rarely ever post reviews about books because for the most part many are very average, but that is not the case with this book! This book is amazing! I literally do not know how people who don't have this book are even passing neuroscience in medical school! Take my advice, buy this book and never look back - it will be the best decision you ever made when it comes to neuroscience in medical school

so it is difficult to get a good feel of their relations to each other

I was looking for a book for neck and facial anatomy, less so neuroanatomy. I don't think there is enough detail, and from my use of the book, the individual systems (blood vessels, nerves, etc.) are presented in isolation, so it is difficult to get a good feel of their relations to each other.
I prefer Netter's Head and Neck Anatomy for Dentistry, it's very detailed and much better for an ENT, Maxfax or Plastic surgeon, rather than a neurosurgeon.

Concise Comprehensive and CLEAR

Figures don't lie - that is the cliché. However they can mystify the unwary director to the point where a journey through the accounts is akin to a trip through the looking glass complete with three impossible things before breakfast and always jam tomorrow!

This excellent book by one of Australia's best boardroom level financial trainers will get any director to a level of expertise that allows incisive and insightful reading of even the most complex accounts.

The current edition is accompanied by a CD Rom with Excel spread-sheets that allow directors to practise the concepts outlined in the book until they have a clear view of how different activities and reporting can affect the statements. The foreword by Trevor Sykes is clear and brief and finishes with the observation that failure to grasp the essentials of financial statements is more properly attributed to a lack of interest (or perhaps effort) than any inherent mystique. Whatever the cause, this book is a good remedy.

The book starts at the very beginning and introduces the three basic financial statements with examples of both a successful and a failing business to help make the message clear.

After looking at the regulatory framework the book then dives into its most important work, setting out a good example of financial statements and explaining what must be going on in the business if these are the results. This is followed by an analysis of the different components of the statements. It is the single clearest explanation I have ever found of these basic devices. It is compatible with the international financial reporting standards which will please international readers who are new to the Australian reporting context.

The book then looks at ratio analysis and ways of judging financial performance. There is a section on warning signs and a useful piece on groups and consolidations that will assist directors of companies that are starting to develop complex organisation structures.

The book is demystified without being dumbed down. Complex information is treated in a matter of fact manner; it simply states what needs to be said and resists temptation to veer into obscure, if interesting to accounting cognoscenti, areas.

Short, Sharp, and Thought-Provoking

This short book wastes no time in cutting to the chase: contemplating why we enjoy what we enjoy helps us recognize and better understand environmental and market forces that influence our dispositions to certain types of entertainment. The author does not suggest that readers should adopt more "high-brow" forms of enjoyment (e.g. reading complex critical theory) and forsake certain other types of mindless enjoyment (e.g. playing Candy Crush). Rather, Dr. Bown places all enjoyment on a level playing field to be analyzed as more or less equal enjoyments. This approach encourages introspection from the reader into what our enjoyments are without the red herrings of analyzing how worthless some of our enjoyments are. Although Dr. Bown does provide several helpful case studies, he provides them as cairns along the path to understand the point he's getting at.

For example, we all know that playing games on our phones is usually an unproductive waste of time. But had this book made that its central focus, we'd likely miss the larger themes of enjoyment in general. All enjoyment. We'd agree that Instagram is a waste of time, vow to spend less time on our phones, and then let the new goal slowly deteriorate and disappear within a week of finishing the book. However, by not ranking or disparaging certain enjoyments, this book helps the reader recognize that even the book we're reading provides a certain enjoyment that needs to be analyzed. Why did we buy this book? What environmental and market forces drove us to purchase this book, and what is it about us that enjoys reading it?

This is an excellent essay that deserves to be read. There were a couple typos on the first few pages that contributed to a somewhat improvised feel of the book, but that only added to the experience of reading what seemed to be a thoroughly-thoughtful profound stream of thought on enjoyment.

I haven't read much critical theory, but this wasn't written for professors. This spoke well to my layman understanding, and it has encouraged me to read more critical theory.

I enjoy therefore I am

Both an excellent path into contemporary theory - with sharp and incisive views into Deleuze, Lacan and Zizek - and a key to understanding how, to paraphrase Ray Bradbury, the so-called "Machineries of Joy" have come to define the modern subject in this late capitalist global network.

If you were to ask me to recommend a book that gives you high theory and couples it with 'everyday analysis' - so you can see both its relevance and application to ordinary life I would thoroughly recommend this book.

So, give me an example, you say. Tell me something more.

Well, the core analysis develops one crucial insight in modern post marxian-psychoanalytic thought (inspired largely by Zizek) - namely that ideology hides itself in open sight amongst our practices of 'enjoyment'. Playing 'unproductive' mobile Apps - Angry birds, Candy Crush, etc - tells us something about how the regulation of our pleasures and 'escape trajectories' from working life actually are carefully managed and controlled by the very system that they would ostensibly be escaping from. I work, you work. We all get bored. Work is boring but necessary. So I escape it - I slip off into Facebook, get our smartphone and play some 'useless' game. Innocent, eh?

But here's a crucial insight: I'm not escaping. The space and time I spend preoccupied with these unproductive leisure activities, actually is part of the system I'm trying to escape from. Enjoyment is not enjoyment. Holidays are not holidays. Unproductive, pointless time-wasting mobile apps are not a 'relief', a welcome entry into a space outside of work. They are part of the machinery of work. They make me more productive. Because of them I can work harder and for longer hours.

Scary.

But entertainingly written. Showing great Shakespearean wit ("Brevity is the soul of wit") this lean book lets you see the man behind the curtain, controlling the great wizard of Oz.

It gives you a glimpse behind the facade, pushing you to ask: where is that space of resistance - and who are all these stupid people playing games while I'm trying to discuss critical theory? (Actually this book has some very funny things to say about those who enjoy more 'productively' - you know: the critical theorists and ilk. Reminds me of a remark by David Harvey during a talk about how 'critical talk' can whip up a revolutionary fervour - but actually lead to nothing.)

And perhaps therein lies its subtle and most profound challenge. How to claim back that space. The space we have let capitalism colonise.

Enjoyable and educational

‘Enjoying it’ is a small book but it gives you a lot to think about.

With only a basic knowledge of psychoanalysis and critical theory I was concerned that this may be out of my league but I found it very insightful, well-argued and in most places entertaining. I did get a little bogged down in the references to some contemporary theorists (Deleuze, Lacan and Zizek) at times but this is a book that is very much centred on everyday life.

I was soon questioning my assumed superiority because I choose to read intellectual texts and listen to Radio 4 whilst my teenagers play computer games and spend hours on snap chat.

The text argues that all forms of enjoyment just serve to prop up the capitalist system – even when we think we are being subversive. It turns out that I am not as superior as I thought I was.

Nevertheless, it was the analysis of enjoyment itself that I found most fascinating. Especially the modern phenomenon of having to be seen to be enjoying yourself at all times and to let everyone know this on social media. This really struck a chord with me.

Personal happiness is seen as of prime importance in modern society so perhaps we should re-examine what makes us happy and question why and if we are really enjoying it!
