A fabulous story - loved Hadley and Reed

The cliff hanger at the end of the first book is picked right back up again at the very beginning of this book, so please make sure that you have read the first book.
I got straight on with the story but a few pages in I pulled myself to an abrupt halt and went back a reread the end of book one (not exactly a hardship) and I have to say that gathering my thoughts up like that meant that this book was more intense.
Hadley, I love the fact that this was her opportunity to shine, her chance to grown into the woman that she needed to be and her chance to let Reed in.
So now I have mentioned the man himself – I can say nothing else about him other than the fact that she is quite simply an amazing man.
Yes he is a bad boy – not a bad thing in my book.
But he is a fighter in and out of the right and out of the right the only thing he is fighting for is Hadley and that is one fight he has no intention of losing.
It wasn’t a smooth journey by any stretch of the imagination but then the book wouldn’t be half as good if it was.
The obstacles they had to work through made them better people, it was relatable and although at times it appeared as if it was almost enough to break them it was just like real life, they had to listen, understand and learn and only by doing so were they able to give me the confidence that what they had was the real deal.
Much like the first book, this book is beautifully constructed, it is wonderfully descriptive and it give up all the answers that I was looking for.

Oh how I loved this book

Oh how I loved this book! We get to see Hadley become the strong character we all wanted her to be and see Reed step up and be who she needs. I truly enjoyed watching these characters grow. Just like the first book this is filled with ups and downs, a roller coaster ride, and I loved ever second of it. I could feel all the emotions as they were happening. I'm sad that their story is over but I can't wait to see what is next from SL Ziegler!!

What a awesome story. At first I was like oh this better go how I want it to. But reading how much Hadley found and put herself first was amazing. But she knew deep down she still needed Reed. There was so much she had to go through and find out, and then Reed and her had so many more obstacles to get through... this was a amazing emotional book.

Ghosts (yurei) have always played a prominent part in Japanese folklore. Although the majority of ghosts are female - due to the perceived strong passions of women - there are also some notable male ghosts. Male ghosts tend to fall into one of two categories - either a warrior who was killed in battle and cannot pull himself away from the historical events in which he figured (these appear mostly in Noh theatre), or an onryo (a vengeful ghost who returns from purgatory to avenge the wrongs done to them in life). Famous examples of male ghosts include the peasant leader Sakura Sogoro, and the painter Kohada Koheiji.
Sogoro was a village spokesman who was crucified, after watching his family butchered, for daring to complain about taxes to the daimyo, lord Hotta Kozuke. His vengeful ghost was said to have returned to haunt Kozuke's castle until the overlord's wife and son died from fright, and Kozuke himself went mad. Kohada Koheiji was a painter who was killed by his wife and her lover. The popular writer Santô Kyôden (also known as the ukiyo-e artist Kitao Masanobu) developed the Koheiji story further in his novels, Kohada Koheiji and Fukushû Kidan Asaka-numa (Bizarre Tale of Revenge at Asaka Marsh). As vengeance, Koheiji returns to haunt the murderous couple while they are in bed together inside mosquito netting.
The female ghost is perhaps the most recognizable figure in Japanese horror culture, and appears in several differing types; the cat-ghost vampire, the seductress ghost who initiates a post-death love affair with a living human, the ubume or mother ghost who died leaving her children behind and returns to care for them, the yuki-onna or snow-lady, the lethal yurei who suffered badly in life or was murdered by their lover, and whose powerful emotions of jealousy, sorrow, or rage at the moment of death brings them to seek terrible revenge. This last phantom is the one made known globally at the turn of the 20th century through the success of Japanese ghost films such as Ringu ("The Ring”) and Ju-On ("The Grudge”). Their traditional appearance - long black hair in disarray over the face, white skin and white burial clothing - goes back to the very first ukiyo-e images of such creatures, of which the original is said to be Maruyama Okyo's painting of the ghost of Oyuki, from1750. (Oyuki was Okyo's mistress, a geisha who died young; Okyo saw her ghost in a dream one night and was inspired to create this seminal image.) ........

About the Author
Theodor W. Adorno was one of the founders of the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory. Among his many books are Problems of Moral Philosophy (Stanford, 2000), Introduction to Sociology (Stanford, 2000), Sound Figures (Stanford, 1999), and Beethoven: The Philosophy of Music (Stanford, 1998).

About the Author

After receiving his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in 1980, Eric Roberts taught at Wellesley College from 1980-85, where he chaired the Computer Science Department. From 1985-90, he was a member of the research staff at Digital Equipment Corporation’s Systems Research Center in Palo Alto, California, where he conducted computer science research, focusing on programming tools for multiprocessor architectures. In September 1990, Roberts joined the Stanford faculty, where he is now Professor of Computer Science and the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn University Fellow in Undergraduate Education.

From 1990 to 2002, Professor Roberts was Associate Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies for Computer Science. In that capacity, he was the principal architect of Stanford’s introductory programming sequence, which for many years held the distinction of being the largest course at Stanford. He has also written four computer science textbooks that are used at many colleges and universities throughout the world. His research focuses on computer science education, particularly for underserved communities. From 1998 to 2005, Roberts was Principal Investigator for the Bermuda Project, which developed the computer science curriculum for Bermuda’s public secondary schools.

While at Stanford, Professor Roberts has received several university- level teaching awards, including the Bing Fellowship, established “to recognize excellence in teaching and a committed interest to the teaching of undergraduates”; the Dinkelspiel Award, which recognizes “distinctive and exceptional contributions to undergraduate education”; and the Laurance and Naomi Carpenter Hoagland Prize, awarded for excellence in undergraduate teaching. In January 2002, Roberts was named one of the first eight University Fellows in Undergraduate Education, which are designed “to reward faculty who make truly outstanding contributions to Stanford’s undergraduate experience.”

Professor Roberts has been active in professional organizations dedicated to computer science education. From 2005 to 2007, he served as co-chair of the Education Board of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and was for many years on the board of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE). From 1998 to 2001, Roberts served as co-chair and principal editor for the ACM/IEEE- CS Joint Task Force on Computing Curricula 2001, which published a detailed set of curriculum guidelines in December 2001. He also chaired the ACM Java Task Force from 2004 to 2006. In 2003, Roberts received the SIGCSE Award for Outstanding Contribution to Computer Science Education. Professor Roberts is a Fellow of the ACM and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Professor Roberts has also been active in several organizations seeking to promote socially responsible use of science and technology. He is past president of both Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, a public-interest organization of computer scientists and other professionals concerned about the impact of computer technology on society, and Student Pugwash USA, which encourages students to use their training in science and technology to create a better world. In 1999-2000, Roberts was the Eugene M. Lang Visiting Professor for Social Change at Swarthmore College.

Great book! The "SICP of C ?"

Haven't worked through the whole book yet, but I will say that I have other C or imperative-paradigm data structures book.
The topics are very meaningful: thorough emphasis on recursion (usually misunderstood by C programmers), backtracking (in games - yes, fun!), graphs, trees, that is, the standard gammut of topics, but all written amidst a very interesting text that makes a person who loves programming to never let the book down, because of all the /usefull/ stuff that's in it. For instance, he uses an editor as the common thread to discuss buffers, then implents it using arrays, stack, and linked lists. You end up having a /practical/ introduction to those issues and the implications therein. This is not "practical" in the sense that it's "dumb". This is "real" as in "real GOOD, USEFUL, WELL WRITTEN, WELL DESIGNED" code. C hacking as it should be done.
The code is written in crystal clear style (which is amazing for a C book), the author is keen on abstraction and library reuse. The excercises are great, and not dumb and mechanic.
There isn't any book like this one for C out of the several that I've seen.
If you want to learn C, after you learn the basics, this is THE book. I guess the other reviewer is right when he says that this must be the "SICP for C." And if you know anything about programming, you know that this is a big compliment.
The author is an Applied Mathematics graduate from Harvard and a professor at Stanford.
An excellent, excellent text! Addictive reading!

A CLASSIC!

I have read through many books on data structures and algorithms (including the famous one from O'Reiley publishers), however I have no doubt that this is probably the best book on this subject. The author has put tremendous effort to generate amazing libraries for all the basic Data Structures. The exercise questions are very good as well. Also there is plenty of REAL programing examples, like implementation of editors, etc.. I just wish that Eric Roberts decides to write a similar book for java.

Having taken Dr. Roberts' course for the last two quarters, I can say without a doubt that his book is the best available for learning how to think like a programmer and how to actually code. In the course of four months with his two books, I have learned more about computers than I thought possible.
These books are the best way to begin learning about the exciting field of computer science.

This is an incredible read, and you'll learn things that you only wish you could have applied in your life many many years ago!

This is by far one of the best books that I have ever read that was written by Patrick Kelly. I work in an industry where we teach people ways to lower their taxes, and to help them get out of debt. I was amazed at how much information this book provided that I was already teaching to my clients. Not only that, but if you are looking for a way to get ahead when it comes to retirement and ensuring that you are doing what you need to be doing, then I highly recommend this book to you. It is an incredible read, and you will learn more in this book than you will have ever learned in school.

Most of what is in here has never been taught in school. But I promise that by reading it, this book will change your life when it comes to the areas that you will invest your money. I have read this book multiple times, and will continue to read it as there are things that I not only apply on a daily basis, but I’m a student of the book. I teach people the principals that are taught in it, and I would recommend that you purchase this book as well. I love this book, and I have continued to read, and re-read to learn the essentials to help me become a better salesperson. I definitely give this book and author 5 stars. Incredible book!
